Types of Dreams

If you ask several dream experts how many different types of dreams, or categories there are, you'll probably get several different answers, and they would all be correct. There is no one right answer.

Why do dream categories even matter? Because it helps in how you approach your interpretation process. You'll see what I mean as we go through the various types of dreams.

I have been interpreting my own dreams for many years and can pretty much lump all dreams together into four categories:

I've seen Nightmares as a category as well, but really, they can be included into any of the four types above, depending on the content.

Recurring dreams are another category you'll see in other sources, but I've usually found these to be in the Message dreams category.

Creative dreams, in which you invent something useful, write poetry or music, design clothing, and so on, are truly inspiring dreams! (Don't you wish we you had more of them?) These dreams would be under the message category since you are receiving information. They can also cross over into lucid dreaming if your conscious mind becomes aware of it and manages to hold on to the details.

How about sexual dreams? Well, they could also be in any one of these categories, although I think it would be quite unusual to have a prophetic sex dream...so if you do, let us know all about it ;-)
